Job Summary:
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the cleanliness and the appearance of guest accommodations and public space and see that all personnel performing housekeeping operations carry out their assignments in accordance with DoubleTree by Hilton and Biltmore Farms Hotels standards. Responsible for all housekeeping, supplies, linen, equipment, work orders to maintenance staff, and any other duties as assigned or required. Oversee the efficient management the hotel's laundry operation.
Essential Elements:
- Create and distribute morning work assignments to ensure all areas of building are properly maintained in accordance with cleanliness standards.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping and laundry departments in furnishing daily service to guest rooms and public areas.
- Plan, schedule, and organize work to ensure proper coverage based on expected occupancy while communicating and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Assist General Manager and Human Resources in the selection of housekeeping staff.
- Assist management staff in ensuring housekeeping needs are met and assuring housekeeping staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures.
- Ensure all staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties.
- Provide full supervision to housekeeping staff and mentorship to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Room Inspector.
- Provide training on standard operating procedures to all housekeeping personnel as directed by management.
- Ensure adherence to brand and company quality standards by inspecting rooms and public areas, including deep cleans.
- Inspect premises, guest rooms, linen rooms, and public areas to assure employees maintain the property's superior standards of housekeeping.
- Maintain an inventory of guest and housekeeping supplies and linen, ordering replacement of supplies and equipment as needed.
- Create a service environment focused on the guest, with a passion for high standards in cleanliness. Responds promptly to customer needs.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies and coordinate staff training, including MSDS, OSHA, blood borne pathogens, and other safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and at least two (2) year of commercial cleaning experience, preferably in a hotel setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following are preferred, but not required for candidates to apply:
- Two-year degree in Hospitality/Hotel Management preferred but not required.
- Four or more years of prior hotel supervisor experience preferred.
- Previous experience labor cost, purchasing, demonstration of skills, and development of housekeeping team preferred.
- Additional languages abilities are a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
- Must have extensive knowledge of hotel housekeeping and cleaning techniques.
- Be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Maintain flexible working hours and be available as on-call when needed.
- Be professional in all dealings with guests and co-workers.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Be able to identify problems and create and implement solutions quickly.
- Be able to anticipate guest and employee needs and respond quickly.
- The successful candidate is expected to be a leader in demonstrating service behaviors consistent with the highest standards.
- Outstanding attention to detail - both personal grooming/appearance and properly identifying guests needs, demeanor, and level of required service attention.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Skilled in the use of computers and software programs such as Excel and MS Office.
- Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift, including holidays and weekends.
Physical:
Must be capable of lifting up to 35 pounds. Must be capable of constant walking, lifting, bending and pushing and walking up and down stairs. Must be able to work with cleaning products on a regular basis.
